Survey background

The 2006 survey is a partial continuation of an international EA survey started in 2003 by The International Council for Information Technology in Government Administration (ICA, http:/www.ica-it.org). Throughout 2003 – 2004 ICA's Enterprise Architecture study group, consisting of EA competencies from ten ICA member countries, conducted a conceptual survey of the national EA activities in the ICA member countries.

The authors are grateful for the fruitful collaboration with many ICA-members in conducting this survey. However, this survey is not limited to ICA-member countries.

The findings and recommendations presented are those of the authors, and the 2006 EA survey report is a chapter from an academic thesis documenting the study. The 2006 academic thesis can be downloadet here.

The 2006 survey is a continuation of the 2007 survey.

Calls to action:

“Define clear and measurable EA goals”

“Do not uncritically buy the vendors “Ten steps to successful EA” and expect the world to change in any advantageous direction”

“Measure EA performance to ensure progress and ultimately EA success”

“Do not isolate an EA team and expect them to generate value-adding EA”
